 "Ripping" is a British slang colloquialism for "thrilling", with “Yarns” used in the sense of “stories”.

Seizing opportunities created by changes in the entertainment industry brought about by the advent of non-linear broadcast platforms, Ripping Yarns will develop intellectual property, which will be exploited first as books or graphic novels in order to make them more likely to be acquired by broadcast buyers.

Properties include the YA romance novel Romeo, Juliet and Jim from Holt MacMillan and the soon to be published middle grade adventure Jules Verne’s Prophecy from the same publisher and The Thumb Wrestling Federation: TWF Thumbook from Scholastic.
